The Foundation Open Society – Macedonia is closely following the developments related to the health crisis and the fight against COVID-19 and continues to actively provide assistance and support, especially for marginalized citizens whose protection is our highest priority. This time, FOSM provided additional 1,260 humanitarian packages for the endangered Roma families who are socially and economically most directly affected by the crisis, and who were not covered by the first distribution.

In cooperation with the Red Cross, the humanitarian packages will be distributed and will reach the homes of over 5,000 citizens of the Roma community in 9 cities – Berovo, Radoviš, Strumica, Kavadarci, Negotino, Kičevo, Kočani, Štip and Veles.

For the smooth running of the activity, the Red Cross in the field will cooperate with the representatives of Roma organizations that are part of the ROMAKTED program as well as with the Crisis Headquarters of the Municipality of Berovo. Many thanks for their selfless engagement and hard work.

We at the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia are committed to building a tolerant and inclusive society, open to the participation of all citizens equally. The support and participation of the Roma community in improving the conditions for access to education, health and legal services, but also for changing perceptions, attitudes and behaviours towards Roma remains our focus.
