On 23 December 2020 was signed a Memorandum of Cooperation for providing free legal aid and access to justice between the Ministry of Justice and the Lawyer Chamber of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia (FOSM), Youth Cultural Center MKC – Bitola, Macedonian Association of young lawyers, Skopje, the Association National Roma Centrum Kumanovo, the Association EHO Educational – humanitarian organization Štip, the Association “Multikultura”, Tetovo, the Association of Citizens – Izbor, Strumica, Helsinki Committee for Human Rights, Skopje, the Jesuit Service for Refugees in the Republic of Macedonia – branch, Skopje, The Coalition of Citizens ‘Associations ALL FOR FAIR TRIALS Skopje, HOPS Association – Options for Healthy Life Skopje, Citizens’ Association Institute for Human Rights Skopje, Law Clinic from the Faculty of Law – University “Goce Delčev”, Štip, “Center for Legal Clinical Education in Criminal Law “, within the Faculty of Law” Iustinianus Primus “at the University” Ss. Cyril and Methodius ”, Law Clinic “PRO BONA”, Faculty of Law at the South East European University – Tetovo, Legal Clinic for Vulnerable Groups, established as a center for clinical education within the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus”, at the University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius”, the Law Clinic “American College”, within the Faculty of Law at the University American College – Skopje and the Law Clinic “Department of Clinical and Legal Education”, within the Faculty of Law Kičevo, at the University “St. Kliment Ohridski”- Bitola.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed as a result of the need to further develop mutual cooperation, in order to further strengthen the effectiveness of enabling and promoting the right of access to justice and equitable judicial protection of individuals through the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices.
With this Memorandum of Cooperation, the signatories establish cooperation within which they will enable mutual technical cooperation and exchange of experiences on issues related to the provision of free legal aid and access to justice, promotion of the system of integrity and good governance and access to justice. This includes providing free primary and secondary assistance; organizing events of interest and trainings and seminars according to needs; expanding the network of cooperation with other institutions and organizations; expert assistance and analysis as well as mutual informing on the results of the work.
