With enormous grief and heartache, the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia informs about the passing of our dear and respectable colleague Suzana Velkovska on the morning of August 1, 2022.
We have lost a great friend, human rights champion and coworker who has enjoyed great respect among colleagues, was unreservedly entrusted with and had selflessly pursued the fight for their health rights.
Suzana was a professional in her work, a supporting colleague to other employees, but first and foremost – she was a human always ready to help the others.
As a person she was quiet and composed, but a persistent and arduous woman with no tolerance for injustice. That is how she acted in life and at work, never giving up the fight. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, her biggest struggle was to secure a general physician in Shuto Orizari for the people whose rights she had untiringly advocated for. And she had won many battles, which is best witnessed by collaborators and colleagues who lost a true advocate for human rights.
Regretfully, Suze did not win the most important battle – the battle for life. Rest in peace our beloved Suze. You have been a trailblazer that will be remembered and your work will be cherished as pledge that the fight must never stop.
We are proud to have had you in our lives and are grateful for everything you have done by the power of your strong will, love and spirit – till the last breath.
We will carry you in our thoughts with pride and respect and will keep you in our hearts with love.
The Foundation extends its deepest condolences to Suzana’s family for their incredible loss.
