In the period 19-21 April 2022, a training was held in Berovo for the members and the administrative service of the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination organized by the Network for Protection against Discrimination.
One of the specific goals of the Network is to strengthen the capacities and practices of the competent institutions for protection against discrimination, so in that direction, training was held in accordance with the needs for advanced education of the members of the Commission and the staff of the administrative service. The training was realized on the basis of the signed Memorandum of Cooperation with the Commission in order to improve the knowledge in various areas of anti-discrimination law based on theoretical learning but also practical cases.
The focus of the training was on recognizing discrimination on various grounds, reviewing cases from the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights, as well as working on various case studies to recognize the burden of proof. A special part was dedicated to the competencies of the Commission in using other competencies in the direction of better protection, prevention and promotion.
The training was realized within the project “Network for Protection against Discrimination: Promotion of policies and practices for protection against discrimination and promotion of equality” which is financially supported by the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia.
