The “Keep Distance” campaign, which emerged on the Skopje square, aims to remind citizens in a direct and visually explicit way to keep a distance, to avoid crowds, to reduce hand-shaking,  to minimize their contacts and thus protect themselves and others from the COVID-19 virus. At the same time, the action reminds the citizens to respect the recommendations and to follow the instructions issued by the authorities.

In the situation we are in, prevention is recognized as the most important measure and that is why the artists involved in the action, through the language of art, have tried to communicate the messages of prevention of the spread of the dangerous virus. As artists and activists they cannot remain silent in such situations and believe that in these difficult days everyone should contribute and influence to inform citizens about the self-protection measures to be taken. Artists and activists can raise the public awareness of this particularly important topic through what they know to do best – through their work.

“Keep Distance” is an action dedicated to medical professionals and healthcare professionals who are struggling around the clock to protect public health. With this action, the artists expressed gratitude for thеir dedicated work.

What is particularly interesting about this action is that according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, there was no direct contact between the members of the group when the work was done. The action was completed in phases and sequentially. Each of the artists has contributed at a different stage in order to avoid direct contact, but also to prove that although it is difficult, it is not impossible to get things done this way.

The “Keep Distance” campaign is financially supported by the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia.
