On February 18, 2022, the Executive Director of the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia (FOSM) Fani Karanfilova-Panovska and the Mayor of the Municipality of Šuto Orizari, Kurto Dudush, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to promote good governance by strengthening the local government’s resistance towards corruption and conflict of interest, and with the introduction of a system of integrity in the municipality.
Executive Director Karanfilova-Panovska pointed out the importance of adopting local policies aimed at proactively locating the risks of corruption and conflict of interest and timely eliminating them which would prevent unwanted consequences and damage to the public interest.
Mayor Dudush welcomed the cooperation and emphasized the will of the municipality of Šuto Orizari to work on an integrity system that will improve good governance, improve the efficiency of public services and increase citizens’ trust in institutions.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was concluded within the project “Strengthened Integrity Systems for Combating Corruption at the Local Level”, implemented by the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia, and is part of the USAID Civic Engagement Project.
