On February 21, 2022, the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia (FOSM) and the Municipality of Kičevo signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with which they committed to promoting good governance by strengthening the resistance of local government to corruption and conflict of interest, and by introducing a system of integrity in the municipality.

At the meeting, Marija Mircevska, Program Coordinator at FOSM welcomed the will of the Municipality of Kičevo to work on establishing a system of values, attitudes and activities that will proactively eliminate or reduce the risks of corruption and conflict of interest.

Arben Ristemi from the Department of General and Legal Affairs emphasized that the Municipality of Kičevo and Mayor Fatmir Dehari are ready to work on the adoption of policies aimed at improving transparency, promoting accountability and most importantly increasing citizens’ trust in the work of local, public institutions.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was concluded within the project “Strengthened Integrity Systems for Combating Corruption at the Local Level”, implemented by the Foundation Open Society – Macedonia, and is part of the USAID Civic Engagement Project.
